Aaron Draplin...

A couple of weeks ago, Paul & I went down to the sketchy streets of Shadwell, for an event 'Tall tales by a large man', that large man being Aaron Draplin, a designer out of Portland, Oregon, famous for the likes of Obama (The President), Nixon (Not the president, the brand), Nike Air Max (before they were cool), Field Notes (Mole Skine's biggest rival) and the now infamous COBRA DOGS! It was literally the best talk I have ever been to, there were tears (his), laughter (ours) and I have never left a talk so inspired. It's well worth checking out the Draplin Design Co site here

I managed to grab a LTD edition print of his poster too which I'll share, in due course.

16-bit.

A little while ago, we stumbled across the white label copy of a then, little known, duo called 16 Bit and their 'Jump' track.
We later used it on a Nike ad.
The first dubstep track on an ad. Ever.
It was epic. Amazing sound.
Stumbling around... I tripped, fell and crash landed on this beauty.

For a laugh...

Our Nike film spoofed by one of Britain's top comedians* doesn't seem to have done badly on the PR front. Nice. More here

Collateral...

Being as the Nike film it is our first notable piece to circulate the public domain, it seems to be getting some interesting coverage. There's the obvious...

And then the slightly unexpected places...

The most interesting bit is reading the comments on the film - the social interaction is one of the most interesting bits, I always wonder why people duplicate films on YouTube? Is it for the ratings?

Under all of the faceless slanging matches (typical of YouTube) there are a few interesting debates coming out of the film...

I'll let you judge for yourselves...

Update...

So, tomorrow we head off to our secret location to shoot our film for the Nike project we've been working on for the past couple of months.

The past few weeks have been extremely busy, there are so many levels to selling in an idea it seems to take a little time to set the cogs in motion. From working the concept, pitching the idea, working developments, finalising script, editing script, re-finalising script, sending out the script to directors, receiving treatments, meetings, conference calls, deciding on our preferred option, discussing feasibility issues, physical set design, locations, confirmation on athletes, storyboards, animatics, presentations, more discussions... signing off and a pre-production meeting it's taken quite some time... (and that's the short version)

But finally it's here!

It's all pretty exciting, I'll try and get some photos in the meantime and keep you up to date with how we get on. There was talk of getting a personal cam on set to document what we get up to, but I guess if that happens you'll see it up on the WK blog


It's due to roll out in the new year so wish us luck!
