We've had a busy couple of weeks and with our placement at Iris just around the corner we've been making most of our 'free' time. As previously mentioned we've been making our way over to NABS most days - squeezing in crits as much we much.
We've been to WCRS, W+K (twice), AIS, Play, TBWA. A real wide range to be honest. The feedback has been great! Some work has generally been doing well, opinions on others has been varied. The weeks are flying on by!
It's funny really. We left university back in June with a book full of Press Ads and ambient ideas but that's about it - no massively integrated campaigns, no emphasis in digital, no TV & and no radio.
A lot has changed - the biggest bit of feedback we received back then was to amend this. We have. Almost to the point that we've tipped the scales - now we're trying with an emphasis to get some good print ads back in our book! Where's the balance? - it's different for everyone I think, depending on the type of agencies you want to work for.
For us, it's about getting the big ideas and varying the media depending on where the idea leads. For us at least, it doesn't matter where it starts, if it starts in digital, fine. In print, fine. If it won't work in a particular media, fine. We think it's o.k. for an Idea to just live in on medium. Our book is miles better than what it was, it's still a big work in progress as always but we're glad with the way things are going.
So we're off to DDB Tomorrow - we'll see how it goes.

Good Deeds.
Over the last couple of weeks Phil and I have made ourselves at home in NABS. As we're there most days of the week, it really has become a useful resource. Yes, we could work at home, but there's too many distractions, plus it actually gets us up earlier than what we would if we stayed at home.
We've been shelling out the strategies, scamping up some ads and making our way over to various ad agencies with our book.
Everyone knows that advertising's a pretty small world, and if you upset someone and send out a bad vibe it could make it way across London before you do. To date, we've had a good run, everyone we've met has been great, helped us out, or we've helped them out.
Today though, we felt like we'd do our bit - at least to try and say thanks to NABS for all the free printing if anything. (Uni used to be 50p a colour a3 print - which is good, but it all added up when you're printing a whole new 'folio). Besides, the current climate doesn't allow excessive funds for print outs!
Anyone who has been in NABS knows there's 3 Macs & 3 PCs. The Macs have the Adobe Creative Suite - the PCs don't. So while scanning the Adobe website we found out non-profit organisations (aka charities) can be eligible for free software (worldwide) - we spoke to the lovely Iwona at the front desk, printed off some bits and it's being looked into! It would be great to see it happen! I'm sure we wouldn't be the only people who would appreciate it.
It wasn't completely selfless - maybe next time we go there we might not have to fight so hard for access to Photoshop. ha ha.
Now we just need to get some decent space for drawing stuff up!
First post of 2009!
Well I figured i'd skip the resolutions - for your benefit anyway, besides, they only mean anything to me and not much to anyone else, however, being as this is first post of the 2009, I figured i'd do the update but keep it short and sweet.
Things are busy, we have a few things lined up, the last couple of weeks have been spent on working on our book and cranking up the work load doing the rounds etc.

I'll fill in the details later but for now, lets just say 2009 has been exciting and productive thus far and we hope it will continue.
